Edit text in CovePDF

CovePDF Features

To edit new text, click on “Edit Text”  icon in the Edit Menu in order to enter Edit mode. To edit text insert the cursor in the highlighted text frame in order to edit it.

You can simply type within the frame and at the same time select any of the options from the Edit tab from the toolbar:

Change Font

Select one of the Default Fonts from the drop-down menu and continue typing with the selected font.

The default font for the application is Arial.

Font Size

Select one of the Default Fonts Sizes from the drop-down menu and continue typing with the selected font size.

Font Color

Select one of the Default Fonts Sizes from the drop-down menu and continue typing with the selected font size.

Bold

Select text and click on Bold make the selected characters bold.

Select the Bold Format and continue typing to apply Bold characters.

Italics

Select text and click on Bold make the selected characters bold.

Select the Bold Format and continue typing to apply Bold characters.

Text Alignment

Select a Text Frame and apply one of the alignments to the paragraph, either left, center or right.

Text Spacing

Select a Text Frame and apply one of the text spacing options to the text in the paragraph, either character spacing, line spacing or horizontal scaling.

Place the cursor anywhere in a text frame or select text, then select one of the formatting and continue typing with the newly set formatting option.

To leave the Edit text mode, click on the Edit Text Button  again.

Important Note: Due to technical limitations the following options are not available and will be implemented in a future release:

  • Backspace and Delete keys are not available for use for moving text to line above.
  • Copy/Cut & Paste is not available within a text frame or of a whole text frame.
  • Editing of pages that contain rotated objects and tables is not available.
  • Re-sizing of a text frame is not available.
  • Recognition of font styles that are not a part of the default set of fonts within the system, such fonts will be replaced with the default font Arial.
  • Italic and bold may change text properties due to font style recognition limitation.
  • Writing in a text frame that contains more than one line alignment is not fully supported and the text frame may lose form, to avoid this use one text alignment per paragraph.
  • Text spacing may not function properly in paragraphs with not standardised default line spacing.
  • Content from pages with more than one column may be added to one text frame due to detection issues, when editing such content it may lose form.
